Illustration Friday

iFriday: Red

Tech Talk

Original art "pencilled" in Adobe Photoshop, colored in Corel Painter's Gouche tool.

Freshness Dating: Alt Theme

DVD Extra

Tried combining my current fascination of 1950s pulp-novel covers with a classy J.M.W.Turner (official | wiki) treatment.

iFridaynista

Once again, a buck short a day late. Freelance work picked up, but freelance admin got crazy. This was too bad, because I had WAY TOO MANY ideas for "red". Most of which were probably too predictable, but would've been fun to draw. Officially, my streak is broken. Then again, shouldn't some of the weeks I did multiple entries count for something?

Sharp color used and good idea...yet another way a good looking lady can be a killer...I missed last week too...a bad tater threw me off for a couple of days...I got the initial sketch done of the Red Baron painting his toenails and it was going to read "The real reason he is called the red baron"...but I never got it inked or colored...but the earth didn't spin of its axis so I recon we'll be okay if we get behind from time to time! What the Heck is Illustration Friday?

Think of it as a voluntary, client-free playground for illustrators. A topic is posted every Friday morning. Participants from around the world create, post and share their interpretations.

No Client? Why Bother?

At this stage of my career, I need a weekly public exercise to draw anything at all.

Freshness Dating

Unless otherwise stated, my iFriday work is all-new, created soley for that week's theme. Other Freshness categories include:

  • Repurposed
Old art, lifted straight from the archives with no current modifications
  • Refurbished
Previously-viewed art, modified and enhanced for current times
  • Alt Theme
Past iFriday themes, presented when I have nothing for the current week's theme

Mission Statement

"It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not."
-- Andre Gide
